Personal News

After doing a double major, English and Biology, at CMU I went on to an M.A. in English in Ann Arbor and then teaching at NMU, editing at U-M, teaching English in Toronto and Stockton, CA. Then I did an LL.B. at UBC in Vancouver and have now been teaching business law at the B.C. Inst. of Technology for 30 years. My wife, Veronica Hedges, also attended CMU, graduated from NMU, Toronto Teachers College and UBC and then worked in Special Ed for the Vancouver School Board for 30 years.   She lost an eight-year battle with ovarian cancer last July. We have a 40-year-old daughter who moved back here a year and a half ago with her husband and two kids.  She is a medieval Celticist and he is a banker with a Cambridge Ph.D. in modern African history.

My sister Jan died in San Rafael a few years ago. Bob moved back to Weidman, MI, from the Denver area about three years ago where he operates a business testing vehicles for rollover and other potentially fatal propensities primarily for plaintiffs' lawyers. He was featured on 60 Minutes 2 a while ago testing Ford E350 15-passenger vans that can tip over at 35 mph fully loaded when a collision avoidance maneuver is attempted. He also is the marshall of Sherman Township, so he gets to drive around in Mustang police cars and carry a lot of guns. He is married to his fourth wife, Gayle, and he has two kids from his third marriage.  My mother also moved back to Mt. Pleasant a couple of years ago from Greeley,CO, and now is a guest in Maplewood Manor.  Her physical health is okay but she has lost a lot of file cards and has only spotty recall of anything from the last 60 or 70 years.
