The Pledge Process
![]() |
Pledging is a semester long process that must take place before undergraduate and graduate students can become members of Alpha Chi Sigma. Anyone with an interest in chemistry can pledge, including students in a non-chemistry related major. The only requirement is a promise to take or have taken three semesters of chemistry. Both males and females can pledge! Prospective pledges should come to the social events held during the first two weeks of school, called the rush period, to become official pledges.
The purpose of the pledge process is not only to allow members of the fraternity to learn about pledges but also to let pledges know whether Alpha Chi Sigma is the right organization for them.
There are many events throughout the semester with these goals in mind. Sleepovers, parties, and other fun events are meant to be bonding experiences between pledges and members. Furthermore, professional events such as Pizza with Professors, banquets with alumni, and chemistry magic shows for children provide excellent opportunities for pledges and members alike to network and apply their knowledge of chemistry in unique settings. For a full list of events, please visit the Calendar Section of the website.
Please download an application here and submit it to Kevin Alexander or email your application to alpha_chi_sigma@listlink.berkeley.edu.
