Where to get help for physics students at Cal.

What do you need help with?

I'm having trouble with my classes.

  • Form a study group.
  • Go to your GSI's office hours.
  • Go to your professor's office hours.
  • Go to the the Astronomy Learning Center (TALC).
  • See if anyone's working on homework in the course center, the physics reading room (251 LeConte),the astronomy lounge (661 Campbell), or the 7th floor astro lab.
  • Find a tutor through SPS, PSP, the Student Learning Center, your residence hall, or the physics Student Services Office (368 LeConte).

I don't know what classes to take next.

  • Talk to your department undergraduate officer:
Claudia Trujillo (physics, 368 LeConte, trujillo@physics),

Dexter Stewart (astronomy, 611 Campbell, dexters@astro), or

Catherine Pauling (EPS, 305 McCone, cpauling@berkeley).

  • Find out (from the appropriate person above) who your department's undergraduate advisors are, and talk to one of them.
  • Talk to one of your professors.

I need to find a research project.

I'm stressed out!

I don't know what to do after college.

  • Go to an SPS Career Seminar.
  • Look at the bulletin boards outside of the Student Services Office, 368 LeConte Hall.
  • Check out what other physics, astronomy, and earth science grads from Cal have done.
  • Go to a SWPS workshop on applying to graduate school or read our handy Grad School Guide.
  • Set up an appointment with a counselor at the Career Center.

Someone I know is having a problem with inappropriate behavior or sexual harassment.

I need help with a problem not listed here.
