On April 22nd 1993, a young black man, Stephen Lawrence, was stabbed to death in South London. Evidence and eyewitnesses points to five white youths committing an unprovoked, racist murder. When the play opens, it is five years later. And no one has been brought to justice for the crime. A public inquiry is held, and the words of this play are taken from those transcripts.
