[6] Iohn Lilly of London Esq{ui}r{e} of the age of 44 yeeres or thereab{outes} sworne and ex{a}m{in}ed the xxviijth of Aprill A{nn}o presenti Sayth

1 That he doth knowe the p{ar}ties compl{ainan}t and defen{dan}t, and did know Will{ia}m Ruswell the pl{ainan}t{es} late husband in his lief tyme, [..] w{hi}ch Ruswell he sayth was accounted an honest man, but what his credit was in London, or what wares he might there have taken vp vppon his Credit this depon{en}t knoweth not

2 That he doth knowe that the said W{illia}m Ruswell was s{er}vant and tayler vnto the def{endan}t, but that he tooke vppon his Credit to the defend{an}t{es} vse or by the def{endan}t{es} appoyntm{en}t silk{es}, silver & golde lace and other wares as by the Interr{ogatory} seemeth to be supposed, is more then this depon{en}t knoweth or eu{er} was made acquainted w{i}thall

3 That he cannot depose more than he hath heard the compl{ainan}t and her said late husband saye that the defendant was endebted vnto him for makinge of his apparell, and apparell for some of the def{endan}ts s{er}vant{es}, w{hi}ch was made by his appoyntm{en}t

4-5 That he knoweth not whether the s{ai}d compl{ainan}t{es} husband kept any booke or bookes of the thing{es} w{hi}ch the defend{an}t ought him money for, only he remembreth that he hath seene in the said Ruswell{es} owne house lyinge a booke, wherein the said Ruswell as himself sayde had sett downe the [p{ar}ticulers of some thing{es}] debt w{hi}ch the def{endan}t ought him, but this depon{en}t neu{er} opened the booke, nor knoweth what was the content{es} y{er}of / And further to these Interr{ogatories} he cannot depose, for he was not at any tyme appointed by the defend{an}t to see or p{er}vse any of the said Ruswells book{es}, nor allowe any of them nor any thinge therein conteyned to be the defend{an}t{es} debte, but he remembreth that when he this depon{en}t at the pl{ainan}t{es} request hath spoken to the defend{an}t for money claymed by her to be by him due, he the defend{an}t, hath denyed that he ought her anythinge.
