Associated Students of Psychology at UC Berkeley

Welcome!

About Us!

Associated Students of Psychology, ASP was started in the summer of 2002 as a student service organization in the area of psychology to provide support for students who are both enrolled in the psychology department, and those interested in the field. The goal is to help students achieve their academic aspirations and give these students a sense of belonging within the Psychology major.

The services and events provided for by ASP serve a wide audience : freshmen interested in the major , newly declared students, transfer students and seniors who are choosing their professional paths .

ASP aspires to deepen the process of academic preparation and career exploration of the UC Berkeley undergraduates while enhancing the richness of the experience by addressing various needs of local community in the domain of mental health.

What else we offer You!

Academic services include structured study groups in all upper division psychology classes and lower division upon request, as well as midterms and final reviews . The more demanding classes are accompanied with mini lectures . Special programs are offered to students who are both psychology and pre health or pre law majors with emphasis on networking with admission offices, peer advisement on successful preparation and application process.

ASP also works to acculturate new students to the Berkeley campus through several innovative DeCal classes. Student Success at Cal Pt. I, is designed to help transfer and incoming students make a successful transition to Cal and the Psychology major.  ASP offers three additional Decal classes entitled Student Success Pt. II: Focus on Graduate Schools in Psychology," “Guided Internships in Psych," and "PreMed 101."

We serve as a vehicle to help students interested in the major through providing peer counseling through the Student Services Office . ASP board members also hold office hours Monday through Friday from 9-4pm in the ASP office.

ASP also holds a couple large community service projects each year. Volunteer with us! It'll be fun, you'll work alongside other psych majors, and you can give back to the community at the same time! Also, await the announcement of awesome events throughout the year, possibly including brown bag lunches with professors, parties, workshops, and more!
