I am a

and new media. My new book on gender in high school, Dude, You're a Fag:
Masculinity and Sexuality in High School
is
available from the University
of
California Press. To read more about the book
please click here.
Winner of the American Education Research Association's 2008 Outstanding Book Award I am currently a
Postdoctoral Scholar with the Digital
Youth Project at the Institute
for the Study of Social Change at the University of California, Berkeley.
My
current research project entitled Living
Digital examines
how teenagers navigate digital technology and how new media
has become a central part of contemporary teen culture. I am also
examining pro-eating disorder discussion groups online. You
can read preliminary findings from this
research
focusing on "online hangouts" on the Digital
Youth website.
In the fall of 2008 I'll be joining the sociology faculty at Colorado College. Appearances:
