I currently hold that the best authority on dragons is Anne
McCaffrey's book A Diversity of Dragons. Not only is it very
thorough, but the illustrations, by John Howe, are
incredible. (I don't really think that he can hold a
candle to Michael Whelan, of course, but I'm partial
          to Whelan's work.)
Below are a few dragon-oriented images that I have found on
my travels through the Web. I'm afraid that by now I have
forgotten where most of them are from, although when
possible I have either mentioned the source below or
included it on my credits page. I don't mean to offend
          anybody by omitting a name.

Two images that are far too big to show on this page but are
also far too handsome (or irresistable) to exclude:

          "Jhereg"

          "The Christmas Dragon"
