Philosophy
"A home page should be a home" and reflect the character of its occupant.
(Obviously, I'm playing with color, which changes with time.
Teal wasn't a common color before the 1990s,
but it's such a wonderful color! (and I did this before MS Windows...))
Much of my "lighter" philosophy is reflected in and derived from
the Unix fortune cookie program, a random oracle of one liners and
great quotes.
- "Nothing is as easy as it looks." (especially in software)
- "If I had only known, I would have been a locksmith." -- Einstein
- "The trouble with the gene pool is that there is no lifeguard."
- "If you only have a hammer, you tend to see every problem as a nail." -- Maslow
- ...
My deeper philosophy is grounded in decades of reading and inner work.
Current study: Vipassana Buddhist meditation, a way of loving-kindness.
Recent book: A Course in Miracles.
I like to keep in touch with the natural world around me.
I know what it means when the wind changes direction.
I know what phase the moon is in and what stars are up in the evening.
I love sunsets and earthy smells.
We garden when we can, specializing in perennials and herbs.
The joys of my life are my family, English Country Dancing,
travel, photography, camping and outdoor activities.
