I recently discovered that the "Cyrus" Tidd I was searching for is
actually named John Cyrus Tidd, but was called by his middle name.
He married Louisa Hoover.  They were in Highland County VA
(his son John William Walter Tidd was born in 1887).
We were wondering how my "Cyrus" eluded the cencus taker
  each time and left no trail whatsoever...

John Cyrus Tidd married Louisa Hoover.
They lived in Highland County VA. 

Their son was John William Walter Tidd (1887-1963)
who married Lillie Kelly in Highland Co.

Their son Charles Franklin Tidd (b. 1928)is my father.
He moved from Highland Co. to Augusta Co. VA in 1959.  

Charles Tidd married Rosie Bowen from Rockingham Co. VA in 1951
and had 6 children in Augusta Co.:
Wayne Franklin Tidd	(12-20-51),
Ronnie William Tidd	(12-25-52),
Lorane Patricia Tidd	(11-4-54),
Thomas Wray Tidd	(5-1-58),
Malissa June Tidd	(12-31-60)
Alvin Lee Tidd		(12-27-61).

1810 Bath Co. VA cencus lists William Tidd, William K. Tidd

1870 Bath Co. VA cencus lists Margaret B. Tidd (43 years),
				Martha W. Tidd (44 years)

1870 Highland Co. VA cencus lists Ellen Tidd (18 years),
				Virginia Tidd (16 years)

In 1806, Bath Co. marriage records lists William Tidd
				and Rebecca Merony, June 18, 1806.

In 1807, Bath Co. marriage records lists William K. Tidd
				and Sarah Hart, April 14, 1807.

It seems that William K. Tidd had several daughters.
My records show that in the year 1826 April 4 Ann W. Tidd married John Cole.
Another daughter in the year 1832 Nov. 27 Jane Tidd married Thomas Cole. 

In 1839 Elizabeth Tidd married Archibald Richey. 

In 1848 Polly Tidd married Martin Mason.
