Associates of the Slavic Center

The Associates of the Slavic Center (ASC) is an annual giving program that provides vital support to our program of research, training, and extra-curricular activities.

Benefits of Associate Membership

All Associates receive monthly updates during the academic year, listing ISEEES-sponsored events and other events of interest. At higher levels of membership, Associates may receive a thank you gift, invitations to special events, and other benefits from ISEEES. Associates also enjoy University privileges given to donors.

Some Areas of Need

ISEEES uses its unrestricted funds to:

  • Provide travel grants to affiliated graduate and undergraduate students to present papers at academic conferences;
  • Provide research assistance to affiliated faculty members;
  • Convene conferences that examine current topics in Slavic, East European, and Eurasian studies and that are open to the public;
  • Host an annual reception to foster community building among faculty, students, and the public;
  • Augment its state and grant funds, which provide minimal support for ISEEES operations.

In addition, ISEEES administers a number of endowments for specific areas of study established by individuals and groups.

Other Ways of Giving

Berkeley's Office of Planned Giving can assist you with making gifts of long-term support, including bequests, charitable gift annuities, and gifts of life insurance or securities.

The Reginald E. Zelnik Graduate Student Support Fund

A new UCB Foundation endowment has been established by a generous gift from an anonymous donor. The Reginald E. Zelnik Graduate Student Support Fund, named after an especially beloved faculty member, has been set up to benefit graduate students in the Berkeley Program in Soviet and Post-Soviet Studies that is administered by the Institute of Slavic, East European and Eurasian Studies. The endowment was launched by the initial gift and matching funds from the Graduate Division. Additional gifts to the Fund from Friends, family and colleagues are encouraged and gratefully accepted.
