This workshop is intended to introduce participants to several active
areas of condensed matter research, with a focus on novel electronic
properties at the nanoscale. It will also strenghen links within
the theoretical community on the West Coast and serve as an
introduction to the California NanoSystems Institute at UCSB.
This will ideally be the first of a series of biannual theory workshops
that continue the tradition of the Lake Arrowhead meetings.
In addition to a limited number
of invited speakers, each faculty participant will be encouraged to give a 5 minute
advertisement of his or her work.
The workshop will begin in the evening of Friday, October 6, and end after lunch on Sunday, October 8.
