CONCEPTUAL FRAMEWORK

HOW SHOULD WE THINK ABOUT INFORMATION?
(D. Schiller, 1988)
Information as a RESOURCE has value because it is of use to someone, sometime, somewhere. Soil and water are also resources.
Information becomes a COMMODITY when it is socially revalued through the application of wage labor and the marketplace. Soil and water become commodities when they are produced and exchanged for money.
