____________________
It was with great dismay that I learnt of the death of Professor
J. Desmond Clark of the University of California (Berkeley). I have
known this distinguished Scientist for over 20 years. I admired
and respected him not only for his leadership in Ethiopian archaeological
expeditions and in his unearthing and discovering several priceless
prehistoric artifacts, but also for his commitment and love of Ethiopia,
as being one of the first scientists to take Ethiopians to Berekley
and train them through the PHD level.
He was a great supporter of CRCCH
and a dear friend to me.
I wish to extend my condolences
to his wife Betty and family, let his soul rest in peace.

for Research and Conservation of Cultural Heritage. Ministry of
