After the Pan African Congress held in Harare, while travelling
by bus to the Victoria
Falls with Desmond and Betty Clark, Francis Thackeray and David
Phillipson wrote the
following limerick:
There was a young fellow named Clark
Who rowed on the Cam for a lark
But that was too easy
He preferred the Zambezi
With Betty his wife, and Plutarch.
