Contribute/DonateYoung Challenge GrantGreetings! The War Crimes Studies Center of UC Berkeley is excited to announce a new funding opportunity to support the mission of WCSC and its projects. The Young Challenge Grant will only last for a short time (until October 15, 2011). Your financial support will be greatly appreciated. Since the WCSC began its work in 1999, we have provided over 100 undergraduate and graduate students with educational, research, and practice opportunities in war crimes tribunals, truth commissions, and other transitional justice projects in post-conflict countries such as Sierra Leone, East Timor, Indonesia, and Cambodia. WCSC's work has produced research to inform and educate a host of practitioners and researchers working to promote justice, the rule of law, and political accountability in post-conflict countries. Thematic reports and trial monitoring reports provide important empirical evidence for improving international justice by addressing shortcomings such as the capacity to provide adequate victim participation, corruption in court administrative processes, the outcome of applying certain international humanitarian laws in hybrid courts, and so forth. The WCSC's programs are a part of making important change in transitional societies. Therefore, your contributions are critical to WCSC's continued efforts to improve lives in war torn societies. We encourage former URAP (University of California Berkeley Research Apprentice) students, former trial monitors, former interns, and former Summer Institute participants to help support WCSC's work. We highly encourage UC Berkeley alumni who are interested in capacity building in the justice sector of post-conflict countries to contribute support. Any amount you gift will be appreciated. The Young Challenge Grant will match every dollar. So, a gift of $50 will become a gift of $100, and a gift of $500USD will become $1,000 through this program! All of your donations to the WCSC are tax-deductible. To make a donation to the Alumni Challenge Grant, please make a check out to
