The
country that boasts the oldest and most stable democracy
in South America is also home to the longest standing guerilla
war in the world. This course will examine the origins of
violence and drug trafficking in Colombia and their impact
on the current social and political climate.
Daniel
Coronell is an award-winning Colombian journalist who has
worked in both print and television news. Professor Coronell
has also taught journalism at the Externado, Javeriana and
Los Andes universities in Bogotá, and is currently
a senior visiting scholar at CLAS.
This
course will be taught in Spanish.
